About Recrafter's Cottage
At Recrafter's Cottage we love using recycled materials as much as possible.
Our baskets are made using cotton rope which is created using waste cotton from the textiles industry. No water or toxic chemicals are used in turning this cotton into rope. No dyes are used either, instead textiles are cut into smaller pieces which are then shredded until a sort of dust is formed. At this stage the colour is created by mixing the shredded cotton in various proportions to create the desired shade. Our small and medium baskets are made with rope that is 100% recycled while our large basket rope is partially recycled, comprising of a recycled cotton outer and a polyester core to make it extra chunky.

In our skin care range we use yarn that is 80% cotton and 20% other products but is 100% recycled! This yarn is made from materials left over from textiles production in Europe. Our skin care range is machine washable at 30 degrees and can be reshaped (if needed) while damp.

In our Jewellery line we also use recycled materials in every item. This ranges from our fantastic recycled cotton in our necklaces to recycled coconut shell and plastics in our button earrings. We have also started playing around with jigsaw pieces from jigsaws that are no longer complete and would otherwise go in the bin. With a bit of thinking outside the box you can come up with all sorts of creations.

We have recently added Clocks to our collection. These are made from old barrel lids along with the recycled cotton rope for Roman numerals.

We even use recycled materials in the smaller details. For example, we attach our labels using thread made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. We also use recycled paper, card and packaging to send our creations out to our lovely customers.

We will soon be creating a "limited edition" range using broken bits of jewellery, especially beads and costume jewellery. If you have any lying around that you would like to give life to again please get in touch. We can either buy it from you or create a piece of jewellery for you in return.
